You will be collecting a number of meaningful experiences, you will be taking home the flavors of Baja California Sur.

This expedition is most ambitious one that combines the Southern Cape Expedition, the Mission Trail Expedition and also includes the whale watching experience. In this extended tour the group heads for San Carlos on the Pacific side for a whale watching opportunity and overnights in the area. The caravan then crosses the peninsula to Loreto, enjoying the history, activities and scenic wonders of the area. Mulege is the next stop, where historic cave and rock paintings in the area are explored. The expedition then travels to La Paz for snorkeling at Los Islotes, and returns to San Jose del Cabo via the East Cape area.

Day 1: The Baja Outback staff Welcome You To Baja! Upon arrival at the Los Cabos International Airport, guests are transferred to their designated hotel. Enjoy a “welcome dinner” with the Baja Outback Nature-Guide and Trip Director who will subsequently introduce the Southern Cape Expedition, issue a guide kit with informational packets about the beautiful Baja and its habitats, maps, and an outline of what will take place in the next few days during the expedition. D

Day 2: An early morning departure in Humvee caravan in order to make time to visit some of the most astonishing natural wonders in the Baja Peninsula. We will leave San Jose del Cabo early in the morning in order to make our way to San Carlos. On the way, guests will get to hike in fossil canyons while learning about various rock formations, volcanic ash, fossils and ocean sediments. In San Carlos we will enjoy our dinner and overnight. B, L, D

Day 3: Rising early, participants will caravan in Humvees to the panga pier where a fleet will be awaiting the day’s whale watching trek into the Pacific. San Carlos is most importantly, the temporary place of rest for the mother grey whales birthing and nursing their calves, and we proudly present these amazing mammals in their natural environment. In addition, discoveries of mangroves by kayak and walks along sand dune islands will be some of the more remarkable “extras” packed into one, amazing day out at sea. The Baja Outback expedition will again, overnight in San Carlos. B, L, D

Day 4: Another early rise, participants get one more chance to ride in pangas, observing the California Grey whales, up-close-and-personal. Afterwards we will cross from the Pacific Ocean side to the Sea of Cortez side to Loreto. Our last stop before arriving to Loreto will be San Javier Mission, a beautiful chapel built on a mountain spring in 1699 by Father Piccolo. B, L, D

Day 5: Begins with a foot-tour in the traditional downtown area of Loreto. Loreto was the first and oldest Mission of the California’s founded in 1697 by Jesuit Juan Maria de Salvatierra. You can still visit the original mission and a small regional museum as well. Afterwards, participants drive themselves up the coast in a caravan of Humvees to the pristine beaches found in magnificent Mulege. The Mission of Mulege was founded in 1705 and was not finished until 1766 some 51 years later. B, L, D

Day 6: Making an unforgettable visit to the mountain range which houses cave and rock mural paintings created some 7500 years ago. This interesting look at native peoples in the Baja Peninsula provides a memorable, first-hand history lesson that predates the earliest settlers of the area. Be sure to bring the cameras… B, L, D

Day 7: Upon returning to La Paz, participants will visit the mission site called “La Purisima.” This is the 8th mission site of the California’s region, and was founded in 1717 by Jesuit Nicolas Tamaral. Very little remains stand today at the original mission site. B, L, D

Day 8: The eco-adventure of snorkeling at Los Islotes will be a real treat for each and every participant. The eco-system at Los Isoltes is one of the most unique on the planet; abundant with various forms of sea life and home to an abundance of endemic marine, land, plant, and animal species. After snorkeling and a day-long expedition in the Sea of Cortez, guests will caravan in Humvees back south to San Jose del Cabo for their final night of rest. B, L.

Day 9: The Baja Outback staff wishes all a wonderful farewell, sharing breakfast before the departure at the Los Cabos International Airport for all flights back home! Adios and Gracias! B
