The once in a life time experience of petting these great mammals at their own home.

The Baja Outback is now offering a week expedition and once-in-a-lifetime experience, allowing you an opportunity to get up-close-and-personal with the grey whales! All grey whales are actually born in Mexico in the Magdalena bay areas and migrating up the Pacific Coast in the warmer summers.

Day 1: The Baja Outback staff Welcome You To Baja! Upon arrival at the Los Cabos International Airport, guests are welcomed to our host hotel. This night join trip companions during our “welcome dinner” with the Baja Outback Nature-Guide and Trip Director. D

Day 2: Our Baja Outback Guide gives you an orientation on the driving tips and leads our expedition, while the naturalist provides informative and insightful information about the natural habitat, history, animal and marine life throughout the trip.
Beginning in San Jose del Cabo, the expedition travels in caravan using interactive radio communications. Explore the less traveled path viewing the best natural wonders of the southern state including picturesque towns like Todos Santos, small ranches, quiet beaches, and the Serpentarium with the areas original inhabitants! B, L, D

Day 3: The eco-adventure of snorkeling at Los Islotes will be a real treat for each and every participant. We snorkel or dive with sea lions at a wild island colony, and during the early months of the year high probabilities of snorkeling or diving with the whale sharks, and also seeing whales as well. Dolphins, turtles and other friendly ocean dwellers are abundant year round. In the afternoon we travel the lone highway north to Magdalena Bay. B, L, D

Day 4: Rising early, our group travels out on the lagoons to visit the silent lagoons and the whales as they play and rest after their long journey home to mate and birth their calves. A full day of whale watching with a mid day visit right on Magdalena island for lunch and also time for contemplation on the sand dunes. A quiet evening at the hotel and early night. B, L, D

Day 5: An very early morning departure as we travel north 45 minutes to another point higher up in the lagoons (Puerto Lopez Mateos) to be with the whales again. After this early morning outing we travel south through farming area, hike into fossel canyons, while learning about various rock formations, volcanic ash, fossils and ocean sediments. Continuing south through some of the peninsula’s original mining towns, before coming to rest at a peaceful retreat oceanfront in Punta Pescadero retreat. B, L, D

Day 6: Wake up at leisure in your oceanfront room. Today is a day of rest or discovery depending on you. Hiking to native paintings, walking on the beach, kayaking and snorkeling are all options. B, L, D

Day 7: A relaxed morning departure for hike in the Sierra de La Laguna biosphere and hike into mountain canyons and waterfalls. An energetic hike followed by a relaxed lunch in a garden patio restaurant. After lunch travel south into San Jose del Cabo for a relaxing evening in town. Dinner on your own. B, L
